Elden Ring Ghostflame Dragon Location
The Elden Ring Ghostflame Dragon is relatively easy to track down in-game. Thankfully, just like the Blackgoal Knight, it is one of the easiest bosses to track and defeat early on. I’ve located two Ghostflame Dragons confirmed to exist in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.
The first is on a large pond beside the Abandoned Ailing village. In the middle of the pond lies the dragon’s carcass, which so happens to be the Ghostflame Dragon. Call your Torrent and ride Northwest from the Three-Cross Site of Grace. If you’ve unlocked the Gatebridge, North Site of Grace, you can go from here, too.
The second Ghostflame Dragon is down at the Cerulean Coast. Right after you start from the Cerulean Coast Site of Grace, ride south towards the giant blue field. The Ghostflame Dragon comes flying in, landing on the ground.

Ghostflame Dragon Weaknesses
Well, the Ghostflame Dragon is more of an endurance boss in-game. This means it doesn’t come with many weaknesses; it is all about your patience and showcase. However, Ghostflame Dragons does have two minor inadequacies, one of which is very specific:
- Weak to holy damage: On the off-chance that you are running an incantation/sorcery build and have any magic that deals holy damage, now is the time to use them. Ghostflame Dragons take some good damage when you perform holy damage on them. So, if you have some magic grease, use them on your weapons.
- Weak to physical damage: As I previously mentioned, this boss is all about endurance and patience check. Hence, they will take damage from physical attacks. However, the damage will be over time, and you’ll have to keep hitting the Ghostflame Dragon repeatedly.
How to Beat Ghostflame Dragon in Elden Ring
Now that we know how to track these Elden Ring bosses, let’s talk about how to beat the Ghostflame Dragon in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.
- Use defensive Crystal Tearsr: When dealing with this boss, the best thing to do is to use any defensive Crystal Tear you have. Alternatively, you can use one stamina regen/stamina negation Crystal Tear and a damage negation crystal tear.
- Torrent is your buddy: Remember, Torrent is your buddy for any field Dragon bosses in Elden Ring. In the case of Ghostflame Dragon, it isn’t any different. If you ride your Torrent and fight with the boss, you’ll easily defeat him.
- Stick to the legs: The safest place to stay when fighting any dragon in-game is its legs. And that plan applies to Ghostflame Dragon. If you fight this boss, stay near its legs and attack it. Ghostflame Dragon generally can’t reach you when you stay near the legs, bringing us to the next point.
- Look out for the tailspin and the bite: When you attack the Ghostflame Dragon’s legs, it’ll occasionally turn around and bite. Similarly, it will sometimes do a tailspin. In this case, the best way to avoid getting hit is to double-jump away from the dragon.
- Call in that Spirit Ash support: Yes, call in that Spirit Ash to help you defeat Ghostflame Dragon in Elden Ring. Spirit Ash will distract the dragon and even help stack damage on top of yours, allowing us to poise-break the boss.
- Look out for the flames: Given that it’s a dragon, the Ghostflame dragons sometimes breathe flames. There are two confirmed methods – one where it breathes it through its mouth while grounded. The other is when it slams with its legs on the ground, creating an AoE. Both instances are straightforward to ignore if on a horse, so once they occur, run away.
- Go for the Glowing Eye – Once you’ve damaged the Ghostflame Dragon enough, it will fall flat on the ground and reveal a glowing eye. Attack it with everything you have to cause some serious damage.
If everything goes well and you are patient enough, you will effortlessly beat the Ghostflame Dragon in Elden Ring.
Ghostflame Dragon Boss Fight Rewards
When you defeat the Ghostflame Dragon in the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, you receive certain rewards. However, they are nothing unique but the standard Dragon Boss rewards you receive from the main game.
Defeating the Ghostflame Dragon will get you the Dragon’s Heart, One Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing stone, and around 100,000 runes. These are decent rewards that allow you to buy Dragon incantations or upgrade the best weapons.
