Lilacs and Letters

Spring Floral Show

Edwards Place Historic Home Guided Tours

Tuesdays-Saturdays, 1-2, 2-3pm. Take a guided tour through the newly-restored first and second floors. The home, interpreted to 1857, is furnished with wonderful examples of Victorian furniture including pieces that belonged to the Edwards family. See the "Lincoln Courting Couch" from the parlor of the Ninian Edwards home where Abraham Lincoln and Mary Todd were married and a piano that was likely played at their wedding. $5 adults, children 10 and younger free. Susan Lawrence Dana: A Great Lady Lived Here

Fri., March 28, 12-1pm. Film tells the story of Susan Lawrence Dana, original owner of what is now the Dana-Thomas House State Historic Site. Adapted and directed by Kevin Purcell and performed by Leigh Steiner, it encourages the viewer to take a deeper look into the story of, in Purcell's words, "a woman who had the fortitude and imagination to create her own path in a time when few women were given this opportunity." American Lynching: From Chicago to New Orleans
